I made this embroidered Couchsurfing Spongebob for a friend. I really loved making it, and realized how therapeutic embroidery is. It is so relaxing, and I couldn’t stop working on it! Now I just have to finish what I made for my best friend’s birthday and will post about that soon, as soon as she receives it in the mail 🙂
First I drew up a little sketch. I googled an image of Spongebob surfing, and of a couch as a guide.
And then I traced it onto tracing paper, with colored pencil.
I used transfer paper to copy the image onto the fabric. However, it was very faint, so I used the drawing as a reference anyway.
Then I started stitching away! Here are some close ups
Wow! This is Awesome !!!
Thank you very much! How did you come across my blog? Thanks for reading!
Love Sponge Bob. I’m going to have to try the swirly rainbow cake you posted with my grandson sometime 🙂 Came across your blog while on Flickr, Feeling Stitchy ’embroidery’ group.
Thank you so much for stopping by! The cake is definitely a fun project, hope your grandson likes it. Another variation is to make it with white cake mix, but you would definitely need to make icing, also! White cake is very dry without it. Rainbow icing would be fun! Or the confetti icing, which I loved as a kid.
Awww!! I used to do this sort of thing when I was little. I should take up more artsy hobbies again. Get ready for needlepoint x-mas presents everyone!
Haha, yeah get ready for LOTS of needlepoint presents because that’s what I’m making, too!
I used to do cross-stitch when I was a kid, because my Grandma taught me, she was quite a prolific cross-stitcher. I just recently started doing embroidery, and it’s so fun and easy!
You should check out Sublime Stitching for some beginning pointers!
